Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Nocturne, Op. The Nocturne is a transcription Tchaikovsky made in of a piano piece dating from the fourth of the Six Pieces Op. When the melancholic opening material returns it is slightly varied. Tchaikovsky wrote the Pezzo capriccioso for his cellist fried Anatoly Brandukov, who gave the first performance on December 7, with the composer conducting.

Strings are a standard configuration 4 first violin, 4 second violin, 3 viola, 2 cello, 2 bass. Sometimes strings are simply listed as "str," which means strings. The second example is common for a concert band or wind ensemble piece.
