I bought these for my daughter, who is in kindergarten. She loves them! After going over the sight words with her first, she was able to read these books independently after only a few minutes! It is really helping build her confidence, and her love for learning. The children loved reading these books because they were able to read some words independently.
The books made them feel proud and put a smile on their face becuase they felt like readers. I bought the Level A books for my four year old grandson to introduce him to sight words and reading strategies. He has shown all the signs that he was ready to learn to read. Worth every penny! I will be purchasing the Level 2 books! I cannot say enough wonderful things about these amazing books! These are by far the best sight word books I have found. The Illustrations are colorful and fun. And the text is made up of only sight words and then the rebus style pictures. Rebus style pictures are a representation of words in the form of pictures, but also have the text under the picture. So the end result is an awesome book that your child can easily read because the unfamiliar or longer words like squirrel for example would have a picture. Each book has sight words throughout the book and the sight words are listed on the inside cover.
This set has 32 sight words that include; a, and, are, at, by, can, for, go, good, had, have, he, his, I, in, is, it, like, me, my, not, on, one, see, she, that, the, this, to, was, with, and you. The set also comes with a pamphlet that shows the 32 sight words and lists the individual books and which sight words are in each one. They also give you tips to get started and some activities to do with these books. The books have a very sturdy cover and nice thicker quality paper pages. These are worth every penny. I also bought the level 2 set. Another great product that I would highly recommend!
These have been enjoyable to work with and we have quickly made good progress. The inline pictures for the out of scope words really helps the new readers work through the sentences. I was a little frustrated that there isn't a list of words in the description of the product, however. The following sight words are covered in these readers: a, and, are, at, by, can, for, go, good, had, have, he, his, I, in, is, it, like, me, my, not, on, one, see, she, that, the, this, to, was, with, you.
